KHERSON, AUGUST 25th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Saldo has said Tourism Development Programme 2011—2015 will make Kherson a pilot territory for innovations, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The official said this today, 25 August, at a press conference.

Mr Saldo said: “Today, the world is investing more and more in this industry, and tourism is a field that may be — and will be — one of the leading ones in Kherson. Not only to improve the image of our city, but also to improve the financial return. This trend needs attention now to thrive in the future”, said V. Saldo.

“We are planning to extend the work to promote the tourism potential of the city as at the national level and on a global scale”, he added.

According to him, the total financial resources of the programme assigned from the city budget equal to UAH 931 thousand. “It’s for different areas of promotion”, said the mayor.

“The programme will be fulfilled by the Administration for Culture. Departments of housing, urban planning and land management, economic development, the management of youth sports will be involved in it as well. Also, I think we will establish cooperation with all social organizations of the city, travel agencies, etc”, he said.
