Wood chips complex commissioned at Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port

MYKOLAIV, JUNE, 26th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Wood chips complex was commissioned at Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port today, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports. The festive opening gathered deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine, chief of State Administration of Port and River Economy, Mikhail Chubay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Ukraine H.E. Mr. Pjetro Jovanni Donnichi, deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Aleksander Zhenzherukha and others. According to Head of Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port Vasiliy Kapatsyna, total cost of the project makes 30 million USD. The building has been carried out since 2005 with support of Global Wood Holding – one of the world leaders of operation of raw materials with its future utilization as fuel for power stations and furniture, ICL-Ukraine is engaged in loading at the port. The productivity of the Mykolaiv complex allows processing 3-4 thousand tons of hard wood into wood chips daily. After being processed the chips are accumulated for further loading onboard the ships proceeding to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean basins. The raw materials for the production are the wood industry wastes and defective wood not utilized in industry. These wastes had simply been burnt until the project was realized. |
