Prospects of widening cooperation between Ukrainian and Austrian companies discussed in Mykolaiv

MYKOLAIV, OCTOBER 21st, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Commercial Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy in Ukraine Mr Gregor Postl arrived in Mykolaiv to discuss the prospects of widening cooperation between Ukrainian and Austrian companies with Mykolaiv regional authorities, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The envoy held a number of meetings with Mykolaiv Vice Governor Igor Katavlyuk, Chief of the Oblast Administration Dept for Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Resorts Mrs Tatiana Chichkalyuk, a meeting with businessmen in Mykolaiv Regional Chamber of Commerce.

19 companies of Mykolaiv were carrying out economic activities with Austria — importing in the Oblast mechanical equipment, textile goods, goods made of base metal, polymeric materials, mechanical equipment production services and those related with technical control and analysis. The export was mostly composed of production of clothes. The import of goods and services made USD 2.39 million last year and USD 818 thousand over the eight months this year. One joint enterprise is operating in the Oblast.

Mykolaiv Oblast is interested in drawing in Austrian investments to develop shipbuilding, light and food industry, transport and tourism. Austrian companies are more interested in wind power production and agrarian sector.

At the meeting in Mykolaiv Regional Chamber of Commerce the parties were discussing cooperation in educational sphere, in power saving technologies and alternative energy projects.
