Feb 14 2009, 12:22

MYKOLAIV, 14th, FEBRUARY, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Ministery of the Interior of Ukraine initiates visa system with Moldova and Georgia, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Minister of the Interior of Ukraine, Yurii Lutsenko declared it yesterday, 13 February, during his press-conference.

He states the Ministry of the Interior of Ukraine has already addressed the Ministry for Foreign Affairs with this proposal.

“We have addressed the MFA for initiating visa system with Moldova and Georgia”, — the Minister remarked.

According to Yuriy Lutsenko, there are big problems with the visa-free system concerning citizens of Moldova (they are using Romanian passports they were previously given to move to the EU countries through the territory of Ukraine).

As for Georgia, the Minister stressed he has strong sympathy about this country, however, there were 150 criminal groups from Georgia in Ukraine specializing on burglary. This problem is really hot at the moment, so foreign citizens should be paid special attention to.

“I don’t care what the politicians will say, we must act in compliance with the law”, — Mr. Lutsenko finished.
