Jun 09 2009, 15:55

MYKOLAIV, JUNE, 9th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine, Yosyp Vinskyi promised Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port would be reconstructed, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Minister made such a statement today, 9 June, during his visit to Mykolaiv.

According to Mr. Vinskyi the cargo flow passing through the port exceeds its capacity. It is necessary to upgrade the berth, the water area and the canal to provide acceptability of all ships.

Due to this the cargo is to grow twice. After the entire reconstruction has been finished the cargo flow may go up five times. “Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa ports will receiver twice more resources than before”, — the Minister emphasized.

INFORMATION: Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port was founded in 1862. The port specializes in transportation and transshipment of export and transit cargoes. The port’s territory occupies 94 hectares. The total length of the berth line makes 2 thousand 920 metres, the length of the railway over 25 kilometres. The port employs about two thousand people.
