Emir Kusturica and the group No Smoking Orchestra to perform at OIFF opening day

ODESA, MARCH 20th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Emir Kusturica and the group No Smoking Orchestra will perform at IV Odesa International Film Festival opening day at Potemkinskaya Stairs, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

President of the Odesa International Film Festival Viktoria Tigipko reported yesterday, 19 March, during the press conference.

On the opening day of the festival, on July 12, we are doing something new for the first time. We decided to make a musical performance organized by the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica for Odesa public and guests of the Festival. This is a Serbian film director and his filmography is well known. This will be an interesting and original performance. He prepared many different surprises... It is something new that has not been on our festival before, Viktoria Tigipko noted. Emir Kusturica will be the honoured guest of the OIFF- 2013. During the Opening ceremony he will be awarded The Golden Duke for his contribution in the film art. This also will be done with the Odesa colour.

INFORMATION: Emir Nemanja Kusturica is a Serbian filmmaker, actor and musician. He has been recognized for several internationally acclaimed feature films, as well as his projects in town-building. He has twice won the Palme d'Or at Cannes (for When Father Was Away on Business and Underground), as well as being named Commander of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
