ODESA, MARCH 6th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The Chairman of Odesa Regional State Administration Eduard Matviychuk has stated that Odesa region is the 1st in Ukraine for investment in basic capital, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Eduard Matviychuk stated yesterday, 5 March, in his talk with reporters in the format of “Breakfast with the Governor”.

“We have received USD 1 billion in investment for last 20 years, and the last year we got USD 400 million. I think we will bring that amount of foreign direct investment for 2 years, as it was brought for 20 years”, he noted.

Odesa region takes the 1st place in Ukraine in attracting investment in basic capital (in the production modernization). 2 years ago, we invested about 8 billion in modernization, but this year more than 13 billion. And it shows that the industry will continue to grow in the region. Yes, we had a decline in industrial production, but Lukoil did not worked, there were problems with the Odesa Port Plant. But I hope that Lukoil will start work. Now the Odesa region is among the leaders of the industrial production growth”, the Governor added.
