116 illegally transported vehicles detained at the Ukrainian-Molodvan border in 2010

ODESA, APRIL 12th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — 116 illegally transported vehicles were detained at the Ukrainian-Molodvan border in 2010, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

These data were published yesterday, 11 April, furing the sitting of the EUBAM Advisory Council.

As noted at the meeting, the services operating on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border are required to on the issue of illegal import of vehicles with invalid or forged documents. In 2010, 116 vehicles were detained at border crossings, 28 per cent more compared with 2009.

In most cases the cars were detained due to an excess period of temporary importation, inconsistencies, identification number, forged powers of attorney, detection of forged passports or the use of technical data sheets for the illegal importation.

80% of all cases were reported at border crossings.

INFORMATION: The EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) was launched on 30 November 2005 at the joint request of the Presidents of the Republic Moldova and Ukraine. The Mission aims to make a sustainable contribution to the delivery of good quality border and customs services to the citizens and companies of Moldova and Ukraine to facilitate contacts and trade.
