Ukrainian Cabinet allows US Navy Grasp to enter Odesa Port

ODESA, MAY 27th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has allowed US Navy Grasp to enter Odesa Port, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 27 May at the Department for Information and Public Communications, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ukraine.

According to the Department, the Cabinet has given preliminary entry permission to US Grasp to the territorial sea of Ukraine and the OCSP within the scope of Sea Breeze military exercise from 6 to 18 June 2011. The corresponding decision was taken at the governments meeting on 25 May in response to a written request from the U.S. Embassy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of of Defence, to Commander of Naval Forces of Ukraine dated 22 April about the possibility of an informal visit to the US Grasp to the port of Odesa .

The generally accepted rule of US policy is the absence of nuclear weapons aboard surface ships, attack submarines and aircraft naval aviation, U.S. Embassys letter stated.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the vessels draft is 3 thousand 335 tons, length 78 m, width 15.5 m, depth 5.2 m. The Crew on board includes 11 officers and 51 sailors. Captain Peter Long. In the framework of exercise Sea Breeze, US Grasp to go to sea every day from 13 to 16 June from 8:00 to 18:00 local time each day to return to the port of Odesa.
