Neva shipyard, Russia, lays the seventh RSD49 dry-cargo vessel designed in Odesa

ODESA, AUGUST 27th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Neva shipyard, Russia, has laid the seventh RSD49 dry-cargo vessel designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of the engineering bureau reported today, 27 August.

According to the press service, 23 August, Neva Shipyard carried out the keel laying of the seventh RSD49 multipurpose dry cargo vessel Neva-Leader 7, deadweight 7150 tons.

Customer ― North-Western Shipping Company.

The RSD49 project has been designed in accordance with the classification of the Bureau classified as Volga-Don max.

The series of these vessels can be used for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 IMDG and Annex B of the BC Code in the Caspian Sea as well as in the Mediterranean, the Baltic, White, and North Seas, including voyages around Europe and in the Irish Sea in winter.

The ship features (as opposed to all the other Volga-Don max projects, class IIB) a large hold, 52 metres long, which allows to carry oversized cargo in direct trips to Europe, Caspian, which should significantly affect the total financial result.

The ship’s service speed is 11.5 knots. Sea endurance is 20 days.

The crew consists of 10 people, total amount of seats ― 12.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
