Neva Shipyard lays the fourth RSD49 dry cargo vessel designed in Odesa

ODESA, DECEMBER 3rd, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Neva Shipyard, Russia, has laid the fourth RSD49 dry cargo vessel designed by Marine Engineering bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The company press service informed today, 3 December.

According to the press service, Neva Shipyard continues to build the series of multipurpose dry cargo twin-propellor ships with a deadweight of 7150 tons (project RSD49) and now they laid the fourth vessel (yard number 404).

The customer is JSC North-Western Shipping Company.

Project RSD49 is classified as Volga-Don Max. the vessels of the series can be used for the transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and bulk cargoes, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9, IMDG Code and Annex B of the Armed Forces in the Caspian Sea, as well as in Mediterranean, Black Sea, Baltic, White, North Sea, including trips around Europe and in the Irish Sea in winter.

The ships feature (in contrast to all other projects) a large 52-metre-long hold, which allows transportation of oversized cargo on the Europe — Caspian route, which should significantly affect the total financial operation result.

Her length is 139.95 m, overall breadth — 16.7 m, width without rubbing strake — 16.5 m, draught — 6 m. The capacity of cargo holds males 10 thousand 920 cubic meters.

Service speed is 11.5 knots. Cruising at sea is 20 days. The crew consists of 10 people.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
