Odesa port assimilating new cargo line from Zonguldak, Turkey

ODESA, DECEMBER 21st, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Odesa Commercial Sea Port is assimilating new cargo line from Zonguldak, Turkey, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 21 December, at the press office of GE Odesa Commercial Sea Port.

According to their report, for the first time Odesa port operated a vessel carrying lorries cleared through Ukrainian borders with ТIR Сarnet. The discharge of the lorries off M/V Zoya (133 m, flag of Belize) commenced 17 December at 23:20. On December 18, all the lorries cleared through the customs and were placed at the transit-cargo terminal of Odesa Commercial Sea Port ready to leave the port.

According to first deputy CEO of the port Mr Yuriy Vaskov, the first consignment of lorries came from Zonguldak and is further transited to Russia. Due to the mutual efforts taken by the management board of the port and the chiefs of the Southern Cusoms, Odesa Border Detachment, the SCU and State Ecological Inspection of the North-West Region of the Black Sea the cargo operation took only a bit more than three hours.

Mr Popkov pointed out the ship-owner was very content, and is seriously considering the idea of organizing a permanent line.

INFORMATION: GE Odesa Commercial Sea Port is situated in the south-western part of Odesa bay on artificially made territory of 109.5 hectares area. The enterprise facilities allow to process more than 14 mln t of dry and 24 mln t of bulk cargo annually. The vessels of the length up to 270 m and the draught under 13 m are operated in the port. The total length of the berthage is more than 8 km.
