Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard delivers the fourth RST27 tanker designed in Odesa

ODESA, JUNE 11th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard delivers the fourth RST27 tanker designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Marine Engineering Bureau informed today, 11 June.

According to the press service, on Saturday, June 9, the shipping company VF Tanker accepted for operation the fourth tanker of the RST27 series deadweight at sea/river 7022/5420 tons.

The vessel has a record block coefficient of 0.93, showed the speed of 11.7 knots at the measuring line at a power of 2100 KWt.

Thus, the contract deadweight of 6980/5378 tons was exceeded by 42 tonnes, the contract speed rate — by more than a knot.

The contours of the vessel of the new project are the product of the research work carried out by the Marine Engineering Bureau in partnership with Digital Marine Technology in 2010, and were created using the computational fluid mechanics methods.

The vessel’s dimensions meet the Volga-Don Canal and the Volga-Baltic Way requirements. Her overall length is 140.85 m, width — 16.6 m, draught — 6 meters, the ship belongs to the Volga-Don max class.

The capacity of six cargo tanks and two slop tanks equals 8100 cubic metres, deadweight at sea — 7022 tons with a draught of 4.2 meters, in the river — 5420 tons at dthe draught 3.4 m, the speed of operation — 11 knots.

The crew consists of 12 people, the number of seats — 14 + pilot. Endurance (at sea/in river) — 20/12 days.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
