10 tankers designed by the engineers of Odesa to be built in Turkey

ODESA, OCTOBER, 20th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE The Turkish shipyeard Beşiktaş will construct 10 tankers of the Armada type designed by Marine Engineering Bureau,

Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today 20 October at the press-service of Marine Engineering Bureau.

According to their information, the tankers belong to the Volga-Don Max class and they are in complete concordance to the new European standards for transportation of vegetable oil, including the double-compartment floodability. The dead weight at sea is 7 thousand 50 tonnes the draft being 4.6 m, in the river the draft being 3.6 m, the dead weight is 4 thousand 700 tonnes. Her exploitation speed is 10.5 knots.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of conversion, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
