Sep 23 2009, 15:01

ODESA, SEPTEMBER, 23rd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – According to Oleg Muratov, Head of Chief Administration for Economics, Odesa Oblast State Administration, the amount of cargo operations in the ports of Odesa Oblast has gone 11 percent down in 8 months of 2009, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr. Muratov reported it today 23 September at a press-conference.

According to the official, “we can observe certain positive changes in cargo operations in the ports of Odesa Region. However during eight months there has been an 11 percent decrease, which in July made 12 percent. The ports might return the last-year level of cargo operations until the end of this year.

Premier Yulia Tymoshenko during the meeting on the issues of maritime complex in Odesa promised to help solve the existing problems in this sphere – by working out a simpler mechanism of customs formalities for the cargoes in particular. According to Mrs. Tymoshenko, this mechanism is to provide a flexible system of discounts for cargo shippers.”
