international conference devoted to history of the Black Sea Coast to be held in Odessa

ODESSA, SEPTEMBER, 02ND, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE international conference devoted to studying of the Prichernomorsky region history and participation of the Polish diaspora in its development to be held in Odessa at historical faculty of the Odessa national university after I.I.Mechnikov from September, 4 till September, 6th, IA Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about this today, on September, 2nd, by the press-service of the Odessa regional state administration.

As it was noted in the press-service, constant co-organizers of the conference are RSA department on affairs of nationalities and religions, General Consulate of Poland in Odessa, association of the Polish scientists of Ukraine.

The scientific problematics of the conference is devoted to the international cooperation on the European continent. The subject of conference participants reports cover the considerable chronological period from antique times till now and open various aspects of the region life. A number of reports are devoted to studying of new archival documents which show the little-known facts of interstate mutual relations in the Prichernomorsky region.

The present conference is being carried out under patronage of the RSA head Nikolay Serdyuk and the General Consul of Poland in Odessa Veslav Masur. First two conferences («Poles in the south of Ukraine and in Odessa» 2006, and «Poles in the south of Ukraine and in Crimea» 2007) have been devoted to researches of the Polish diaspora activity in Odessa and in the south of Ukraine. Reports which have been read at conferences are published in 3 volumes; enough considerable quantity of the previously unknown information from a regional history is entered into the scientific circulation.
