ODESA, APRIL 7th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE New UNICEF Waif Programme is starting in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Information Office of the Odesa city Council informed today, April 7.

According to the Office of the, 5 April, deputy mayor of Odesa Olena Pavlova held a working meeting with the head of projects for HIV prevention among young people of the UNO Childrens Foundation (UNICEF) Olena Sakovich. One of the best experiences in Europe working with waifs suggested by Odesa Charity Fund The Way Home is in the focus of the international organization.

Ms Sakovich noted that the funds existing developments should be an example for many other public organizations that carry out the work with this group of children and youth. For this purpose, a training course has now been created, the so-called case-study, and this will be the starting point in the new project and its further promotion in Ukraine.

The Office also reported that the foundation The Way Home and UNICEF began a new three-year programme for waifs, the emphasis in the programme will be put on the socialization of children through sport, in particular street football as the most affordable one.

Ms Sakovich expressed her readiness to support the football team of the childrens home The Way Home and said she was confident that the idea of an annual street football tournament was quite realistic to be implemented in Odesa.

Involving children in sports, clubs in the application of different directions is a way of effective socialization for children, the UNICEF Representative added.
