ODESA, DECEMBER 5th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Veronika Timofeeva from Odesa has won the Mafia World Championship 2012, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of the Mafia Intellectual Game Federation reported today, 5 December.

According to the press service, IV Mafia World Championship 2012, organized by the Mafia Intellectual Game Federation, took place 1-2 December 2012 in Kyiv.

80 players from 8 countries (Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Poland, Germany, Israel) participated in the qualifying rounds. Each player had six qualifying games with different opponents, determined randomly by computer draw. The final reached ten strongest participants. They played five games for the title of Mafia World Champion 2012.

According to the results, Veronika Timofeeva (Ms Nikole) from Odesa won the World Championship 2012. Natalya Khashchina (Ms Barbie) from Kyiv took the second place and Rostislav Gurianov (Mr Ross) from Odesa took the third place.

In addition to the Mafia awards and the international recognition of the “mafia clans”, the winners received money prizes, IPhone-5, and numerous gifts from championship’s partners ― SIA, Jan and Expert-Ukraine companies.

“Mafia is the intellectual sport that requires constant training of the mind with the same intellectuals. Therefore, we expect more and more mafia-clubs around the world will join to the Mafia Intellectual Game Federation to develop and give this sport a new quality. Our plan is to create a global platform for the mafia game and invite companies to join us as partners”, the President of the Mafia Intellectual Game Federation Ernest Fedorov.

INFORMATION: Mafia is a party game created in the USSR by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986, modelling a battle between an informed minority (the mafia) and an uninformed majority (the townspeople). Players are secretly assigned roles: either mafia, who know each other; or townspeople, who know only the number of mafia amongst them. In the game's night phase the mafia covertly «murder» a townsperson. During the day phase, all of the surviving players debate the identities of the mafia and vote to eliminate a suspect. Play continues until all of the mafia have been eliminated, or until the mafia outnumber the townspeople. A typical game starts with seven townspeople and two Mafiosi.
