Holding EURO 2012 will favour Ukraines application to host Eurobasket-2015, President of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation says

ODESA, NOVEMBER 29th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE President of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation Oleksandr Volkov says successful holding of EURO 2012 will favour Ukraines application to host Eurobasket-2015, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of BC Odesa informed Mr Volkov had stated it during a news conference after FIBA delegations official visit.

According to the press service, 17 December, FIBA should finally decide on the country and the cities that will host Eurobasket-2015.Ukraina has already passed the preliminary screening.

FIBA Evaluation Commission was visiting Ukraine through November 22 26, the Commission visited all the cities claiming to host Eurobasket 2015. The Commission inspected Kyiv, Donetsk, Lviv, Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk.

The Commission was headed by FIBA Coordinator Valts Miltovich. FBU President Oleksandr Volkov, FBU Vice President Valery Kondratyev, FBU General Secretary Oleksandr Larin, a member of the Presidium of FBU, president of the Odesa City Basketball Federation, president of BC Odesa Oleg Bychkov accompanied the guests.

The Commission visited Odesa Palace of Sports, the new stadium of FC Chernomorets, hotel of the city, airport.

According to Volkov, the report that the commission will prepare about Ukraine, will be quite good.

FBU President stressed that Ukraines preparations for EURO 2012 should be an example of how a country can prepare for large-scale sport events.

FIBA representatives of felt the level of Ukraines interest, the level of government support, they saw what had been done in terms of EURO 2012.
