ODESSA, OCTOBER, 20TH, 2008, CONTEXT-RPICHERNOMORIE – Yesterday, on October 19th, Indian elephant Tarun died in Odessa zoo, IA “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

This was reported to the agency correspondent today, on October 20th, during the telephone talk by the director of UE “Odessa zoological park” Yury Kucherenko.

Yury Kucherenko reminded that in 2000 Odessa zoo refused from performing operation on removal of sore tusks, for performing of which a team of specialists from England came. During this period the pathological process was developing.

On August 13th 2008 the elephant was performed an operation on surgical removal of remains of the right eye according to life indications. Afterwards he was given a strong drug treatment which unfortunately didn’t bring any positive results.

“For postmortem examination and identification of the reason of death a high-qualified specialist in the sphere of forensic pathologic anatomy of animals from Sumy national agrarian university was invited. Results of the postmortem examination will be informed to the public”, Y. Kucherenko noted.

It is still unknown for now when and where the utilization of Tarun’s remains will be held.
