KHERSON, APRIL, 11TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — In the Kherson region as of January, 1st, 2008, 62,8 % of foreign investments volumes or 97,7 million US dollars are concentrated on the industry enterprises, “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about this by regional state administration referring to the order of governor Boris Silenkov N. 400 from April, 7th, 2008 «about the project of the Kherson region external economic and investment activity development program on 2008 — 2011».

Priority among foreign investors is foodstuff manufacture. 40.3 million US dollars or 25.9 % of total amount of direct foreign investments («Kherson bakeries combine», industrial-business concern «Aris, LTD» and other) was invested in this type of the industry. On the second place on received foreign investments volumes are the enterprises on manufacture of oil refining products — 34,7 million US dollar, or 22,3 % of receipts’ total amount, due to purchase of Joint-Stock Company «Kherson oil refining factory» actions.

As RSA informs Kherson belongs to the best agricultural purpose grounds in Ukraine – 1970.4 thousand hectares (including 1772.5 thousand hectares, or 90 %, of an arable land). Owing to that its agriculture successes are known outside the state. However, volumes of direct foreign investments attraction into agrarian sector of economy are insignificant and have made only 23.2 million US dollar, or 14.9 % of total investments amount in the region as of January, 1st, 2008. The interest of investors in the enterprises which carry out operations with real estate, rent, engineering and granting of business services has grown for the last years (8,1 million dollars, or 5.2 % of total investments amount).

Recreational and natural medical resources of the Azov and Black seas, medical dirt and a brine of Sivash, thermal waters of the Arabatskaya Arrow, unique Tendrovskaya spit, Yagorlytsky, Dzharylgatsky and Tendrovsky bays, Dneprovsky and Kardashinsky estuaries, unique Kinburnsky peninsula, the greatest Black sea island — Dzharylgach are used insufficiently. Since the beginning of investment as for January, 1st, 2008, 2.3 million dollars which is 1.5 % of total amount has been invested in public health services sphere. At the same time an increase of tourists’ quantity and given tourist services volume is observed. So, during 2007 more than 1 million tourists have visited the Kherson region (first of all Skadovsk and Genichesk recreation facilities), that is 30 % more than in 2006.
