Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications became an ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau member

ODESSA, DECEMBER, 08TH, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications was awarded an ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau member, IA Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press-service of Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine informed the agency about it today, on December, 8th.

According to the press-service, on December, 4th, 2008 Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications was awarded the Certificate of an ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau member and received official congratulations on this event from the ITU Director Mr Sami Al Basheer Al Morshid.

As they pointed out in the press-service, “recognition of the Academy’s reputation as a leading educational establishment, being engaged in the research of telecommunications and economics, was stimulated by the Ministry’s recommendation for joining ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau”.

“ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau membership will let the Academy strengthen international authority, ensure efficient participation in its work, experience exchange and widen cooperation with member countries of ITU”, as was stated in the press-service.

The Ministry of Transport reminded, the aims of the bureau are giving technical support of the countries that are developing and also help mobilization of material and financial resources, necessary for their fulfillment, help in spreading the advantages of new technologies in the sphere of electronic communications in favor of all inhabitants of the planet.

In 2008 one of the branches of international activity of Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications was fruitful work with ITU. Thus on October 7 – 9, 2008 an international seminar “Tariff Policy and Cooperation Between Networks of Telecommunication Providers” was held in the Academy with the assistance of State Department of Communications at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine. Lecturers from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russian, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Indonesia, Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine and Switzerland, Industry administration at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, /national commission on regulation of communications of Ukraine.
