MYKOLAIV, 16, FEBRUARY, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – In 2008 60 million USD of direct foreign investments was put into the enterprises of the Oblast against 73 million USD in 2007, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

State Administration of Statistics in Mykolaiv Oblast informed the agency about it today, 16 February.

In total the investments made at the expense of reinvestment of income prevailed making 34 million USD or 56 %; money investments made a quarter of the overall amount; capital issues – 7 %; property – 5 %; and other – 3 %.

In 2008 direct foreign investments came from 18 countries, most of all from the Netherlands and Cyprus (60 % and 15 % respectively).

Foreign investors put almost 35 million into food industry and beverages; the rest – into hotel business, realty, transport, agriculture, building and trade.

Total amount of direct foreign investments made 152 million USD as of 1 January, 2009 or 127 USD per one person (while as of 1 January, 2008 – 153 USD).

Most of the direct foreign investments in 2008 came to the Oblast Centre and Zhovtneviy Raion (44 % and 43 % respectively).

The percentage of direct foreign investments in other cities (varying from 0,1 % to 4 %) remains insignificant.
