MYKOLAIV, MARCH, 6th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Nibulon supplied fist 100 thousand tons of grain at the markets of Africa and North Korea within UNO programme, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press-service of Nibulon LTD informed the agency about it today, 6 March.

The agreements on grain supplies to Ethiopia in particular of Ukrainian government were achieved were signed last year autumn. Nibulon LTD won the UNO tender to supply grain to needy countries.

“Yes we won the FAO tender our main criteria were quality and the price offered. All in all we supplied about 100 thousand tons of grain, all supplies have already been performed”, — Aleksandr Vadaturskiy, Nibulon General Dirtector said.

Market recipients are Sudan, Ethiopia, Korea, Eritrea. The last ship proceeding to Ethipia was loaded not long ago.

Under conditions of the tender, the company also provided logistics inside the continent. The cargo was discharged in Djibut, then the grain was packed in sacks and transported to Ethiopia”, — Mr. Vadaturskiy remarked.

This is the first time a Ukrainian company participated in UNO tender for grain supply.

UNO addressed Ukraine last year in autumn with a request to provide needy countries with grain. In late September 2008 UNO official delegation visited Ukraine. They held negotiations on participation of our country in World Food Programme as a grain supplier to the countries with developing economy.

“I am very glad that the President and Government of Ukraine, despite difficult economic situation, managed to help the citizens of Ethiopia suffering hunger, — Francis Martin O'Donnell, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system in Ukraine stated. – This way Ukraine has not only demonstrated the entire world its readiness to fight starvation but acquired an exclusive possibility to widen its grain market, having become a donor of World Food Programme”. UNO World Food Programme suggested their assigning 460 million USD to purchase grain for Ethiopia, where 9 million 600 thousand people are starving.

Cooperation with UNO brings more profit to the supplier than the purchaser, since entry to the market of World Food Programme opens large opportunities to Ukrainian companies concerning grain sale, when several other markets closed.

Mr. Vadaturskiy stressed Nibulon was considering the possibility of further cooperation with UNO.

“The conditions of such cooperation are quite acceptable. We will participate further too”, — he said.
