ODESA, JUNE, 2nd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Today, 2 June, Odesa Governor, Nikolay Serdyuk stated the task of the today’s meeting with the families of the captured seamen onboard M/V ‘Ariana’ is to persuade them – all the bodies of power are working to set the seafarers free, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Nikolay Serfyuk stated it today, 2 June during the briefing on the results of the meeting with the families of the captured seamen.

“I and Konstantin Rzhepishevskiy held a meeting with the families of the seamen of the captured M/V Ariana. This was the meeting the families asked for. The task of our today’s meeting is to persuade the families all the bodies of power starting from the MFA, SSU and other structures are working on the release of the crew members of this shiup”, — the Governor said.

As for the negotiation process, the Governor added “these are very delicate negotiations, onle experts of international law should be involved in them – people who have the information how to hold such negotiations. As of today, we have the information are in good health conditions.”

As Context-Prichernomorie reported before, M/V “Ariana” flying the flag of Malta was captured by the Somali pirates at night of 2 May near the Seychelles having onboard 24 Ukrainian citizens. The operating company “Seven Seas Maritime London” is registered in Britain. The ship was manned by Ukrcrewing (Odesa, Ukraine).
