MYKOLAIV, JUNE, 9th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine, Yosyp Vinskyi stated the construction of the Quarantine Pier in Odesa Sea Port might start soon, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr. Vinskyi stated it today, 9 June, during his visit to Mykolaiv.

According to the Minister, the works have not started yet because there is no decision of the Cabinet so far.

“The matter needs detailed coordination. Now the entire pack of documents is being considered and has already been adopted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine”, — the Minister said.

He said this week the Cabinet issued the “so desired document” – on the order of involvement of investments, and now within a month or two the Sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers is supposed to approve about 20 – 30 objects including the Quarantine Pier.

The Minister believes the object is to be built in the shortest term.

As the agency reported before, the question of building the Quarantine Pier in Odesa Merchant Sea Port has been discussed for four years.

17 April, 2009, the Prime Minster, Yulia Tymoshenko entrusted the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine to assign land for a high-capacity container terminal on the Black Sea Coast.

400 million US dollars are supposed to be spent on this project.
