ODESA, JUNE, 17th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Through the period of January-May, 2009, general use transport of Odesa Oblast shipped 10 million 808 thousand tons of cargo, that is by 45,4 percent less than for the same period last year, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today, 17 June at the Chief Administration of Statistics in Odesa Oblast.

According to the Administration, during January-May, 2009, general use transport of Odesa Oblast shipped 10 million 808 thousand tons of cargo, that is by 45,4 percent less than during the same period last year. The cargo turnover made 21 milliard 642 million 900 thousand ton-kilometres having fallen by 25,8 percent.

Odesa Railway 8 million 44 thousand tons of cargoes, the decrease as compared with last year making 39,9 percent. The larges falls are observed in the shipment of principal nomenclatorial cargoes: coal – 84,6 percent, cement – 71,3 percent, black metals – 70,2 percent, ore and manganese ores – 62,3 percent, wood – 61,2 percent, building materials – 51,3 percent, oil and oil-products – 43,9 percent. At the same time the shipment of grain and grain-grinding increased by 82,9 percent.

For 5 months of the current year automobile transport companies (including private entrepreneurs) delivered 1 million 842 thousand 100 tons of cargoes and made the cargo turnover 373 million 7 thousand ton-kilometres that is by 58,1 percent and 15,1 percent less respectively than last year.

Ukrainian trade fleet cut its shipments by 54 percent, in particular in foreign trips by 45,5 percent, in hole consignees received 921 thousand 900 tons of cargoes.
