ODESA, JUNE, 25th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Odesa City Council Secretary Aleksandr Prokopenko stated Consulate General of the People’s Republic of Chine intended to build a fence round its building higher than legally acceptable, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr. Prokopenko stated it yesterday, 24 June, at the sitting of Odesa City Council Executive Committee.

According to Secretary Prokopenko, negotiations on that point have been kept for several months already. The concrete part of the fence has to be no higher than 1,2 metres to meet the city’s architectural requirements. However the consulate wants it to be higher.

Mr. Prokopenko said he was confident the conflict would be regulated soon.
