First Deputy Chief: the Port’s operation has been stable for six months of the current year

ODESA, JULY, 3rd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – First Deputy Chie of GE Odesa Merchant Sea Port Yuriy Vaskov states the Port’s operation has been stable for six months of the current year, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr. Vaskov stated it today, 3 July, during the ceremonial meeting on the occasion of awarding the port and its employees.

All in all the port has been operating quite stably during six months of the current year. The company reached the indices stated in the Port’s Development Plan 2009, according to Mr. Vaskov.

“Concerning financial indices we have managed to exceed the indices of the record six months in 2008. At the same time some decrease of the cargo turnover may be observed. This is related to the situation outside, especially with liquid cargoes of Kazakh origin. The level of operations of dry cargoes remained almost the same as in 2008”, — Deputy Chief stressed.

The Port’s Development Plan is being fulfilled successfully too, as well as investment indices. The construction of such important objects as the 5th, 6th turns of the transport overpass, berth No 2-z is coming to an end, Mr. Vaskov pointed out.

INFORMATION: GE “Odesa Merchant Sea Port” is situated in the south-western part of Odesa bay on artificially made territory of 109.5 hectares area. The enterprise’s facilities allow processing more than 14 million tons of dry and 24 million tons of bulk cargo annually. The vessels of the length up to 270 metres and the draught under 13 metres are operated in the port. The total length of the berthage is more than 8 kilometres.
