Chinese bulk carrier upgraded by OMEB project

ODESA, JULY, 23rd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Bulk carrier BAHAN C built in China was upgraded by a project Odesa Marine Engineering Bureau (OMEB), Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today, 23 July at OMEB’s press-service.

According to the press-service the vessel was primarily built under control of Maritime Administration of China to improve sea cabotage navigation between the ports of the People’s Republic of China. After the upgrade done the vessel has received a possibility of unlimited sailing and convention documents of the Russian Maritime Register of Navigation.

The producing company is Zheijang Hongsheng Shipbuilding Co LTD, China. The ship-owner is Canbaz Denizcilik ve Nak.San.Tic.Ltd.Sti, Turkey.

After the upgrade the vessel has following characteristics: length – 149,93 m, depth – 11,65 m, draft – 8,5 m, deadweight – 17 thousand 795 tons, speed – 11,9 knots, endurance – 30 days, the crew – 18 people.

The vessel was designed for general and bulk cargoes including grain and dangerous cargoes.

The construction contract was signed 2 February, 2006, the construction was finished in April, 2009.

INFORMATION: OJSC “Marine Engineering Bureau” was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC “Marine Engineering Bureau” works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
