ODESA, AUGUST, 5th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – The cargo turnover of GE Odesa Merchant Sea Port made 1 million 132 thousand 300 tons in July, 2009 – 36,7 percent less than in July, 2008, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today, 5 August at the port’s press-service.

According to the press-service through January-July 2009 the volume of cargo transshipments in Odesa port made 16 million 124 thousand 300 tons that is 4 million 834 thousand 100 tons or 23,1 percent than during the same period in 2008.

At the same time the transshipment of containers made 23 thousand 766 TEU (15 thousand 176 units) that is by 50,5 percent (14 thousand 4 units) less than in the same period of 2008.

In seven months of 2009 the port’s container turnover made 133 thousand 369 TEU (85 thousand 335 units) – 43 percent (105 thousand 340 units) less than in seven month last year.

INFORMATION: GE “Odesa Merchant Sea Port” is situated in the south-western part of Odesa bay on artificially made territory of 109.5 hectares area. The enterprise’s facilities allow processing more than 14 million tons of dry and 24 million tons of bulk cargo annually. The vessels of the length up to 270 metres and the draught under 13 metres are operated in the port. The total length of the berthage is more than 8 kilometres.
