ODESA, AUGUST, 6th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko believes relations with Russia have strategic character for Ukraine, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

President Yushchenko stated it today, 6 August during his press-conference in Ovidiopol, Odesa Oblast.

“Ukraine is quite constructive about relations with Russia. There are a lot of motives for that, starting with the fact Russia is one of the greatest states in the world, having a unique resource, unique possibilities, including those for realization of Ukrainian interests – economic, political, and cultural. So these are strategic relations for us”, — Mr. Yushchenko stressed.

He added, “These are the principles Ukrainian relationships with Russia are based on, including the most ‘sensitive’ points.”

In addition President stated “Ukraine is also quite constructive about diplomatic relations with Russia, so Ukrainian party has adopted the agreement for appointing the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Ukraine.”

“All the points concerning his appointment and stay in Ukraine have been solved. I do not see any problems of state level here”, — President summarized.
