ODESA, SEPTEMBER, 21st, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko believes all port tariffs are to be reviewed as soon as possible in order to increase the ports’ competitiveness, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Premier has stated it today 21 September during a round table held with the ports’ chiefs, branch trade unions, and local authorities in Odesa.

Head of the Government stated the revision of the tariffs for cargo transit and transshipment is to be carried out taking into account the tariffs provided by the main competitors of Ukrainian ports – Romanian Constanta and Russian Novorossiysk.

At that Mrs. Tymoshenko charged the chiefs of the maritime complex with holding a broad meeting within the tow weeks’ period and worked out a unified tariff document.

“We should specify when and where we can give discounts. Head of the most important ports are to be involved in working out the new tariff scale, however try and avoid abuses. There’s the season period – there discounts, if the season is over – the discounts should be over as well”, Mrs. Tymoshenko said.
