ODESA, OCTOBER, 2nd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The lawyers of the Ministry of Transport, the Port of Yuzhny and TIS were entrusted to work out mutually the scheme of a private company’s operation in the state-owned water area, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

As the agency was informed at the press-service of the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine, this decision was made yesterday 1 October after a regular meeting of the workgroup created to regulate disputable commercial issues between the Commercial Sea Port of Yuzhny and Trasninvestservice.

According to the press-service, the participants of the meeting were first deputy minister of transport and communications of Ukraine Vasyl Shevchenko, deputy-minister head of state administration of the sea and river transport Mikhail Chubay, Head of the Yuzhny Port Yury Kruk, first deputy general director Alaksey Stavnitser and others.

The participants of the sitting discussed problematic issues as to the use of the berths and the dredging carried out by a private company. The representatives of the ministry of transport said the TIS’s operation in the port’s water area is to be discussed with the port’s authorities and it should meet the acting legal requirements. The fact there are hot problems arising in the process of commercial activity should not impact on the non-stop operation of the berths and the port in whole.

“We have to find the way out of the situation with no delay. All commercial arguments shpuld not be solved through courts, but with the help of the necessary legal acts”, Mr. Shevchenko said.

“Involving investors into economically profitable projects in the state-owned ports entirely depends on the transparency of the playing rules we offer, and all the participants are to follow those rules… Successful operation of private company in a state owned port will be of great use both for the port and for the state in whole”, he added.
