MYKOLAIV, DECEMBER, 16th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Japan has made no decision so far concerning the ring road bridge in Mykolaiv, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency got to know about it yesterday at the sitting concerning the construction of a bridge across the Southern Buh River.

The participants of the sitting were representatives of the city and oblast authorities, Ukravtodor, and Kyivsoyuzshlyahproekt, as well as Japanese International Cooperation Agency.

Mayor of Mykolaiv Vladimir Chaika reminded the bridge has been claimed to be built over the last ten years. So for this period of time its cost increased from being USD 200 million to USD 500 million. And over this period of time none of the governments came close to this issue.

First Vice Governor Natalia Brkovan stressed the bridge was of crucial importance for the enterprises of the oblast.

Eugeniy Lemonov, director of Kyivsoyuzshlyahproek, pointed out the project developers offered three variants of the bridge: a beam bridge, a cable-braced bridge and a pendant bridge. However financial calculations were done for a beam bridge only, since it happened to be the cheapest one (as of 2009 – USD 700 million).
