MYKOLAIV, MARCH, 4th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Governor of the Mykolaiv Oblast Oleksiy Garkusha thinks World Trade Organization has been placing Ukraine in an disadvantageous position, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Garkusha stated it yesterday 3 March at a press-conference.

“We have joined the WTO in the most unprofitable respect. The situation is that we opened pur boundaries, meeting the WTO requirements, whilst we are not using anything, we are not allowed anywhere. I do not see us entering European grain markets today. On the other hand we have a boost of agricultural import here – potatoes from Brazil, and so on and so forth”, the Governor said.

“This is not regulated today”, he went on. “The business, taking into account what is going on, is using the situation. But at times we get overloaded with goods not meeting either sanitary, ecological or any other requirements. This rush of goods is rather difficult to control. And this sphere certainly wants to be brought in order”, he stressed.

At the same time the official believes the situation is to change shortly.
