IAEA experts conduct seminars at the Yuzhnoukrainsk Powerplant

MYKOLAIV, MAY, 22nd, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – IAEA Nuclear Knowledge Management Expert Mission was held at the Yuzhnoukrainsk Powerplant, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today 22 May at the PR and Mass Media Department, Yuzhnoukrainsk Powerplant.

In nuclear power engineering the matters of accumulation, systematization and usage of knowledge are becoming more and more demanded as it directly concerns security management. The IAEA has nuclear knowledge storage and management programme. Within its framework the knowledge management improvement programme in the nuclear sphere as to Ukrainian nuclear power plants. According to Mikhail Slobodchuk, head of the Personnel Training Department, it provides creation of information web-portal available to all the departments of the company, on the basis of which there will be common knowledge base necessary for personnel training and qualification support, as well as acquiring various information concerning the plant’s operation.

For successful implementation of the project special study workshops are planned to be held at all power plants. There was one of the kind held at the Yuzhnoukrainsk power plant through 18-20 May. Alongside with the experts of Yuzhnoukrainsk there were also representatives of Zaporizhia, Khemlnytskiy and Rivne power plants present at the workshop held in Yuzhnoukrainsk, and also representatives of Rosenergoatom, Russia. The IAEA experts of Hungary, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic gave a presentation of the approaches, results and prospects of the IAEA Knowledge Management Programme together with practical examples of its implementation at certain power plants in the European Union.
