ODESA, JUNE 17th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Ukraine and Poland initiated the project of a new container railway line Odesa, Ukraine – Sławków, Poland, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.
The agency has been informed about it today 17 June at the press service of GE Odesa Commercial Sea Port.
The project was announced at the international forum International Forwarder’s Day, according to the press service. The project’s initiators are LHS — PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa sp. z o.o (PKP Broad Gauge Metallurgical Railway Line Limited Liability Company, Poland), Plaske JSC, Odesa, Ukraine and TransInvestService, Odesa, Ukraine.
They stressed at the press service, the basis for the project was the infrastructure of Line 1520 going through the territory of Poland (the area from the border-crossing point Izov- Hrubieszów up to the station of Sławków, near Katowice). The station of Sławków being at the joint of lines 1520 and 1435 was joined to the project, this provides the access to Western Europe. The marine branch (TransInvestService) provides the access to the Black Sea countries – Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the basin of the world ocean.
Additional advantages of the project are provided by including Kyiv to it as it Ukrainian national distributive centre. The length of the route Odesa-Izov/ Hrubieszów- Sławków equals to 1 thousand 361 km, if Kyiv is included – 1 thousand 725 km.
The participants of the forum believe the load will be about 4 thousand TEU.
At the moment the project is at the stage of adoption.
