ODESA, JUNE 25th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – 370 thousand tons of cargoes were shipped by means of Odesa’s water transport from January through May 2010, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today 25 June at the State Committee of Statistics in Odesa Oblast.

According to their data, through the entire period of January-May 2010 the national trade fleet increased the amount of shipments by 2.2 percent. All in all the consignees received 369 thousand 800 tons of cargoes.

The volume of cargo operations at the berths of the city made 11 million 247 thousand tons and went 8 percent down compared to the same period last year. The operations with export cargoes went 23.2 percent down, transit cargoes – 14.8 percent, while the amount of imported cargoes went 2.6 times up, domestic cargoes – 12.1 percent up.

The amount of ships operated in the region was equal to 699, 679 of them belonged to foreign ship-owners and charterers, which is respectively 18.1 and 17.3 percent less than during the same period last year.
