ODESA, JULY 19th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Vadim Georgienko of Odesa has been nominated for Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize for Productive Youth Development, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today 19 July at the press service of the Odesa Youth Council.

According to them, Vadim Georgienko of Odesa has been nominated for Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize for Productive Youth Development after carrying out a 10-year long research and practice in the sector of youth policy in Ukraine and Europe.

Special expert commission in Washington is to define the winner in autumn.

“The fact itself that a Ukrainian scientist has been nominated for the prestigious contest is of crucial importance for the promotion of Ukrainian science. As the majority of our researches hardly ever get translated into English and thus the world community doesn’t know them well”, they stressed at the press service.

INFORMATION: The Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize, in the amount of 1 million Swiss francs, honours scientific work with high social relevance for the personality development of adolescents. A further requirement is that scientific findings from interdisciplinary research are implemented actively in practice. Aware of the fact that such requirements also place high demands on the committee itself, the Jacobs Foundation put together a jury consisting exclusively of internationally renowned scientists to choose the winner of the Research Prize.
