ODESA, SEPTMBER 20th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Odesa City Council Administration for Ecological Safety is holding the Day Without Car Campaign, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today 20 September at the Odesa City Council Administration for Information.

According to the information, the citizens of Odesa are suggested they give up their cars just for one day and use alternative, more ecological, means of transportation — trams, trolleybuses and bicycles.

The schools of the city will hold children’s picture competitions Ecological Car — not a Dream but Reality.

INFORMATION: A Car Free Day encourages motorists to give up their car for a day. Organized events are held in some cities and countries. September 22 is World Car Free Day. According to The Washington Post, the event «promotes improvement of mass transit, cycling and walking, and the development of communities where jobs are closer to home and where shopping is within walking distance».
