Kherson Sea Port retrieves construction of the grain terminal

KHERSON, SEPTEMBER 29th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Kherson Commercial Sea Port has renewed the construction of the grain terminal, its storage capacity will be 24 thousand tons of grain, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

PR Manager of GE Kherson Commercial Sea Port informed the agency about it today, 29 September.

According to his information, the general contractor has brought all the construction personnel back to the building site. As of today the object is 85% ready.

The cost of the project is UAH 31.3 million.

“The construction of the grain complex is being carried out exclusively at the port’s expense. The new object was included into the list of first-priority issues of Kherson Oblast’s development for 2010 and will be the first step to implementation of the Port Development General Scheme till 2015. The Scheme provides commercial development of the left bank of the Dnieper”, deputy chief engineer of the port Volodymyr Zhilnikov informed.

Eventually, the port is planning to build modern grain terminals, provide railway connection there from the station of Tsiuriupinsk, which will allow to double the volume of cargo operations, give new jobs and assignments to the local and state budgets.

Total area of the transhipment complex is 0.52 hectares. The construction is divided into two stages: the first is a complete technological centre for acceptance, storage and loading of grain on vessels, the second one is building additional capacities in order to increase the volume of operated grain cargoes.
