JSC Ukrrichflot approves the project of a new bulk-cargo transshepment terminal in Mykolaiv Port

MYKOLAIV, OCTOBER 14th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Joint-Stock Shipping Company Ukrrichflot has approved the project of a new bulk-cargo transshepment terminal in Mykolaiv Port, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Transport portal Trans-Port has informed about it today, 14 October.

Joint-Stock Shipping Company Ukrrichflot has approved the investment project aimed at upgrade of transshipment operations at its subsidiary — Mykolaiv River Port. The majority in the range of commodities operated by the port belongs to metallurgic products, iron-ore raw materials, clay, coal, scrap metal and packing units.

JSC Ukrrichflot is starting the construction of the complex for transshipment operations at the 8th iron-ore way, berth 7 in order to develop the port’s business and widen the range of operated goods coming to the port in hopper carriages and may require sheltered storage — mineral fertilizers, grain, cement, other bulk cargoes.

As of today, the contract for project works has been signed. All the necessary documents and the project is being prepared, that will commence when approved.

INFORMATION: The Port of Mykolaiv specializes in the processing of general and bulk cargo, such as ferrous metals, pipes, iron ore raw materials (pellets), ferroalloys, ores, clay, saltpeter, coal, scrap, and packaged goods. The port has an annual throughput of 5 million tonnes of goods. 51-hectare area of the Port consists of the cargo handling area (49.35 ha) and the passenger area (1.72 ha). The Port of Mykolaiv accepts vessels with draft up to 4,5 m and length up to 140 m, the passenger vessels — with draft up to 2,9 and length up to 130 m. The cargo area includes 5 berths with total length of 1 km 26 m. All berths have rail and truck access roads.
