POSCO and Daewoo Engineering interested in Mykolaiv Port’s facilities

MYKOLAIV, NOVEMBER 9th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Korean companies POSCO and Daewoo Engineering are interested in Mykolaiv Port’s facilities, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 9 November, at the press service of the company.

Top managers of the mentioned companies visited Mykolaiv Commercial Sea Port. The aim of their visit was familiarize with the port’s general cargo operation facilities. The port’s managers presented some investment projects defined by the Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine Mr Kostiantyn Yefymenko as important.

During this three-day visit the parties discussed possible ways of cooperation.

Previously, Mr Chung Joon-Yang, POSCO Chief Executive Officer, held a meeting with Ukrainian President Yanukovych and Premier Mykola Azarov who promised to support sea transport cooperation.

INFORMATION: The Pohang Iron and Steel Company, or POSCO is based in Pohang, South Korea, is the world's second largest steel maker by market value and Asia’s most profitable steelmaker. Currently, POSCO operates two steel mills in the country, one in Pohang and the other in Gwangyang. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd or DSME is one of the largest shipbuilders in the world and one of the «Big Three» shipbuilders of South Korea.
