Odesa Port operates the first million of Venezuelan oil

ODESA, DECEMBER 7th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — After unloading of the tanker Paramount Hanover (250 m, flag of Isle of Man), the volume of the Venezuelan transit oil transported through the port of Odesa to Belarus, has reached the point of 1 million tons, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 7 December, at the press office of the enterprise.

According to their information, the vessel processing was over on December 6 in the evening at berth ¹1 of the oil harbour of the port of Odesa. An overall of over 78.1 thousand tons of oil was pumped from the S/V Paramount Hanover to the coastal capacities.

In late April the first allotment of the Venezuelan oil of «Santa Barbara» class (under the deposit name) arrived in Odesa. As of the beginning of December the number of the processed tankers was 12 units, the total amount of the delivered cargo – 924.4 thousand tons. From Odesa, the oil is transported by rail to refinery plant in Mozyr, Belarus.

The contract on deliveries was signed in March, during the visit of the President of Belarus to Venezuela. At the end of May, during the summit, the Participatory Action Plan on priority ways of cooperation between Ukraine and Belarus was signed. These priorities are partnership in the project of oil transit.

According to port’s General Manager Nikolay Pavlyuk, “the goods traffic of the Venezuelan oil is strategically important for the port of Odessa, and the enterprise administration will exert all efforts for granting of qualitative services in its shipping”.
