ODESA, DECEMBER 23rd, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Microsoft Ukraine General Director Dmitry Shimkiv says Ukrainian developers are a good example of Ukraine’s being a cradle for innovation, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Shimkiv stated it today, 23 December, in his exclusive interview to the agency.

“Ukrainian developers are a good example of Ukraine’s being a cradle for innovation, Over 200 thousand of developers and IT-specialists are working in Ukraine today. Thousands of them are employed by the largest companies in the world, also by Microsoft. During his recent visit to Ukraine, General Director of Microsoft Steve Ballmer met Ukrainian IT start-ups and students, he noted their innovativeness and systemacy of thinking”, he said.

He added, the chief problem of the sphere is that Ukraine practically doesn’t get advantages from the work of our developers: most of them are working in offshore outsourcing, so Ukraine doesn’t get either taxes or intellectual property.

“For the sphere to develop it is necessary an operative protection mechanism for its assets should be created”, stressed Mr Shimkiv.
