M/V Malakhit designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, laid in China

ODESA, JANUARY 10th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The multipurpose dry-cargo vessel Malakhit designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, has been laid at Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding Co, China, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 10 January, at the press service of Marine Engineering Bureau.

According to their press office, M/V Malakhit is a marine vessel with unlimited navigation area capacity. The project features a pronounced innovative character, it is the first vessel of the type of less than 85 m long having deadweight over 5000 tons. Her endurance is 25 days. 2 single block-compartments and 8 single cabins with toilets and showers will accommodate the crew. There is also a two-bed cabin for interns and a separate cabin for a pilot.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
