MYKOLAIV, FEBRUARY 1st, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — WANO mission commenced work at Yuzhnoukrainsk power plant, yesterday 1 February, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

International experts arrived at the invitation of the plant.

The mission is organized by the results of WANO peer review, which was held at the station in April 2010. Along with the strengths and good practices in the enterprise team members called peer review ways in which SU NPP has an opportunity to improve their performance. Among them — the investigation into the events at the nuclear power station.

Following the recommendations of international experts, the leadership of SU NPP appealed to the Moscow Centre of the World Association of operators of nuclear power stations to organize on their mission to support the site dedicated to the topic. In the basis of the training program put forward the experience of Russian nuclear power plants. According to the Head of Mission Andrew Nosov, a member team headed by him included the best experts in the field — the representatives of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Exploitation of nuclear power plants, Novovoronezh training centre Atomtechenergo, Obninsk Research Centre forecast. They are familiar with the methodology of Ukrainian nuclear scientists investigate the causes of disturbances in the plant, the process of the investigation, the requirements for quality control of its holding, training of professionals involved in the investigation, as well as an analysis of the causes of improper personnel actions.

Safety requirements for nuclear power plants in the world are very high. Today is recorded and investigated all incidents and deviations in the plant, including minor events and damage, as well as almost the events. Identify their immediate and root causes and contributing factors to the further development and implementation of corrective and preventive measures can prevent more serious events. Such systematic work promotes safety and reliability of nuclear power plants, nuclear scientists renewed commitment to the principles of safety culture.

In the four-day training seminar, held in the framework of the mission of WANO, attended by about 70 people — professionals, senior and middle management. According to the results of training, all participants will receive certificates.
