MYKOLAIV, MARCH 14th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — 5 of the 12 international military exercises planned for the current year will be held in Mykolaiv, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 14 March, at the Press Office of the President of Ukraine.

According to their information, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich signed the Decree № 283/2011, adopting the Plan of Military Cooperation within the Framework of Multinational Exercises on Ukrainian Territory.

5 out of the 12 exercises planned to be held on Ukrainian territory will be held at Shyrokyi Lan in Mykolaiv region. These are: the Ukrainian-Belarusian-Russian military exercises of mechanized units (14 days, roughly the period June—October), with 300 soldiers, including 100 Ukrainian servicemen to the staff in small arms and military equipment; multinational exercises airmobile units Cossack Steppe 2011 (14 days, roughly from July till September) with the participation of 700 military from Ukraine (300 troops), Poland, Great Britain, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic; multinational tactical exercise of Special Forces Jackal Stone 2011 (25 days, roughly the period from August till October), involving 450 troops from Ukraine (up to 200 troops with the standard small arms, 40 pieces of military equipment, up to 3 ships, 5 helicopters and aircraft), Bulgaria, Latvia, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Lithuania, Norway, USA, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

These exercises will involve not only the landfill of the Shyrokyi Lan, but also other items of Mykolayiv region — Ochakiv 73 Marine Centre for Special Use and our legendary (Pervomayskiy is the correct name) and port Ochakiv; multinational tactical training of Special Forces Barrier 2011 (three-phase, each phase — up to 20 days, roughly the period from June till September) with the participation of 250 troops from Ukraine (up to 100 soldiers with the standard small arms, 20 pieces of military equipment, up to 3 ships, 3 aircraft and helicopters), Bulgaria, Latvia, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Lithuania, Norway, USA, Hungary and the Czech Republic. In this case, as in Jackal Stone, will be involved and Shyrokyi Lan and the 73 Marine centre for special purposes, and Maiskyi Island, and the port Ochakiv, Ukrainian-American tactical naval exercise Sea Breeze 2011 (30 days, roughly from June till October) with the participation of 2 thousand 450 personnel, including those from Ukraine 1 thousand 700 personnel, 20 ships, boats and ships, 15 aircraft and helicopters. Americans will provide 750 soldiers, up to 2 ships, and 2 aircraft and 4 helicopters, and 50 units of vehicles.
