ODESA, MAY 12th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Since the beginning of the year 35 children have been adopted by foreign citizens and 45 by Ukrainian nationals in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Odesa Regional State Administration Official for Children’s Affairs Ludmila Shvyreva reported about it yesterday, 11 May, during a hot-line session.

According to the official, “foreigners, as always, are very active in adoption of children in the area — for the period of 4 months in 2011 they adopted 35 children.”

At that, Mrs Shvyreva said: “We can see a trend of growth of national adoption — already our fellow citizens make the majority of foster parents.” She added, for 4 months citizens of Ukraine have adopted 45 children.
